SUBJECT: RE: 2022-2023 Fundraising Campaign Recap and Renovation Plans
Hello DCMS families,
The Desert Canyon Middle School PTO is excited to update you on our 2022-2023 fundraising campaign. Last school year we successfully raised our $20,000 goal for the renovation of our basketball court and the surrounding lot. We’re delighted to inform you that the Scottsdale Unified School District has generously agreed to support and underwrite the entire project, including our budgeted contribution of $20,000. A special thank you to our PTO President, Lisa Zajdel, who worked tirelessly to make this project possible!
Project Timeline: We are currently coordinating dates and schedules to begin renovation. We will update you as soon as we hear more!
Where does the 2022-2023 money that we raised go? Thanks to the incredible support from the school district, the DCMS PTO will now be able to allocate the funds raised last year to enhance various areas within the school that will benefit both students and staff. Enhancements may include, and are not limited to:
1. Installation of New Basketball Hoops: The basketball court received brand new basketball hoops to replace the old ones. This will not only improve the overall playing experience, it will also ensure the safety of our students during their physical education classes and extracurricular activities.
2. Mesh Protection for the Basketball Court: We understand the importance of safety, and therefore, a whole new mesh protection system will be installed around the west-side of the basketball court. This will prevent stray balls from causing disruptions and potential accidents, while creating a secure and private environment for all.
3. Fresh Paint for the Cafeteria: The cafeteria will receive a much needed makeover with fresh paint. This area is central to the student experience and will be updated into a more visually appealing space that fosters creativity, motivation, and fun!
4. Updates to the Teacher's Lounge: Funds will be utilized to create a coffee bar, install new blinds, provide a fresh coat of paint and, purchase a new microwave. Our goal is to create a comfortable space for our teachers and staff to unwind and recharge.
We’re immensely grateful to the Scottsdale Unified School District for their commitment to supporting DCMS and investing in the well-being and development of our students. We’re also deeply thankful to you, our dedicated parents, teachers, and community members who contributed to last year's fundraising campaign. This collective effort has made these exciting renovations possible.
We will keep you updated on the progress of the renovation project and share the timeline once it has been finalized. Your continued support and involvement in DCMS are invaluable.
